Thriving Family Homeopathic Practice provides online and international homeopathic consultations. The practice is operated by Helen Newell-Brown, a student member of the Society of Homeopaths practicing under their professional code of ethics and standard insurance requirements. To provide safe and accurate homeopathic care, I must collect and process the following information:

  • Personal Identifiers: Full name, date of birth, pronouns, and emergency contact details.

  • Contact Information: Home address, billing address, email address, and phone number.

  • Special Category (Health) Data: Complete medical history, current symptoms, psychological/emotional well-being details, lifestyle habits, diet, and prescribed medications.

  • Technical Data: IP addresses, cookies, and session data collected automatically when you visit my website.

3. Lawful Basis for Processing Data

Under the UK GDPR, I rely on the following lawful bases to process your information:

  • Contractual Obligation: To book appointments, send invoices, and communicate schedule changes.

  • Legitimate Interests: To safely assess your health and maintain clinical records required for student practice and supervision.

  • Special Category Condition (Health Data): I process your health data under Article 9(2)(h) of the UK GDPR, which covers the provision of health or social care treatment.

 

4. How Data is Collected and Third-Party Tools

Your data is collected directly from you and processed using the following secure platforms:

  • Wix: The Thriving Family Homeopathic Practice website is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases, and general applications on secure servers behind a firewall. Wix also deploys cookies to monitor website performance.

  • Google Meet: Online consultations are conducted via Google Meet. Video and audio streams are encrypted, and consultations are never recorded without your explicit, separate consent.

  • Direct Communication: Through email exchanges, intake forms, or phone calls.

 

5. How Your Information is Used

Your data is used strictly for the following purposes:

  • Conducting clinical evaluations and tailoring homeopathic remedies.

  • Managing clinic administrative tasks, scheduling, and emailing invoices.

  • Clinical supervision (as a student member, anonymised case details may be discussed with a qualified supervisor to ensure the highest standard of care).

  • Complying with professional indemnity insurance mandates.

 

6. Payments

I do not collect or store credit card details. Payments are made securely by you via direct bank transfer based on invoices sent to your email address. My invoice will display my business bank details, and your bank statement will show the transaction history.

7. International Data Transfers

Because I consult with international clients, your data may be accessed outside of the UK. For clients based in the EU, your data is protected under the UK’s reciprocal adequacy regulations. For clients in other countries (e.g., US, Canada), I utilize secure platforms (like Wix and Google) that employ Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure your data receives a level of protection equivalent to UK standards.

8. Data Storage and Retention

Your privacy is treated with strict clinical confidentiality.

  • Digital Records: Invoices, emails, and intake forms are stored on password-protected, encrypted devices and secure cloud storage.

  • Retention Period: In accordance with UK professional guidelines and insurance policies for homeopaths, adult health records are securely retained for 7 years after the last treatment. For children, records are kept until their 25th birthday.

 

9. Third-Party Sharing

I never sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Your information is only shared with trusted parties necessary to run my student practice:

  • Clinical Supervisors: Case details are heavily anonymised (names and identifying details removed) before being discussed for educational or supervisory purposes.

  • Homeopathic Pharmacies: Only your name and delivery address are shared, with your direct consent, if remedies need to be posted to you.

  • Legal Authorities: Strictly if required by law, by my insurers, or to protect your vital safety.

 

10. Your Legal Rights

Depending on your location (such as the UK or EU), you have specific rights regarding your data:

  • Access: You can request a copy of the personal and medical data I hold about you.

  • Correction: You can ask me to correct any inaccurate information.

  • Erasure: You can request that I delete your data, subject to my professional insurance obligations to retain medical records.
